About Cover Love
Who we are, and what’s our story
See that cover on the right? That’s ours. It’s bolted to the back of our van right now, somewhere between the Gold Coast and, as of writing, a bush camp near Longreach, QLD.
We’re Jas and Ryan, plus Luca and Theo, who came along after we’d already chewed through a fair chunk of the map. Esperance to Broome up the west. Darwin down to the Rock. Cairns to the Great Ocean Road and across to Tassie. South Australia keeps dodging us, but we’ll get there.
Every one of those trips is in that cover somewhere. The Isuzu and the van, obviously. Jas grew up in Düsseldorf, so there’s a bit of Germany tucked in. Ryan would rather be underwater than almost anywhere, so the whale shark and the manta had to make the cut. And the distance board down the side? Those are the places that mean the most to us, for reasons that are ours. Spot us in a caravan park one day and we’ll tell you all about it.
Yours would look nothing like ours. That’s the whole point.

How it all began
Dad had just finished a lap of Australia. Just shy of two years on the road, every state, the lot. And on the back of his van, the only thing telling the world about it was a spare tyre cover with the caravan dealer’s logo on it.
That bugged me. We were sitting around a fire on a boys’ camping trip, Dad, me and our eldest, Luca, with the van parked right behind us, and I said something like: you’ve just done the whole country, and your spare is advertising a shop in Brisbane. Why isn’t the trip on there?
He liked the idea. He had no idea how to make it happen. So that became my job.
We sat down and wrote out his story: the places that mean something to him, the standout stops on their lap, and of course the pugs. Then we turned it into a cover. When he rolled into the next caravan park, people stopped to read it.
Friends asked for one. Then friends of friends. Somewhere in there it stopped being a favour for Dad and became Cover Love.
